MONTREAL CHILDREN'S LIBRARY: COLLECTIONS

Bringing children and books together since 1929

Each branch library has an extensive collection of picture books, easy-to-read books, fiction, non-fiction and reference materials. Our picture book and paperback fiction collections are current and well used.

Atwater stacks

The collections, now fully automated with Mandarin library automation software, consist of English and French books. The proportion of the collections by language depends on the area we are serving.

Atwater stacks
There is a special section of books on childrearing and health for the use of professionals and parents. At the Atwater branch, we have a large selection of books on visiting the doctor and going to the hospital, which is useful for parents of children who regularly visit the Montreal Children's Hospital across the street. At the Richmond Square branch, our collection includes a large Black History specialization.

Books are available for children and adults in other languages including Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Arabic and Hindi. Call your nearby branch of the library to find out what language books are available.

Other materials which may be borrowed include audio-cassettes, book cassette packages, and magazines.
