MONTREAL CHILDREN'S LIBRARY: SERVICES

Our dedicated and enthusiastic staff offer a stimulating and supportive atmosphere where story telling, homework assistance, research, creative activities and reading for pleasure are encouraged.  We offer services such as:

Mother-Toddler Story Times:
In some branches, weekly story-times are held for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.  The story-times include nursery rhymes, stories and songs for caregivers and little ones to enjoy together.  Dads and grandparents are welcome too. Pre-registration is not required.  Call 514-931-2304 for more information, or click on Branches.

Daycare visit Atwater BranchScheduled Story-Times for Neighbourhood Daycares: Daycares located close to the library branches may book regular story-time by contacting the library. The three branches of the Montreal Children's Library offer story-times to about 30 daycares weekly.  Occasionally, staff may be able to arrange visits to nearby daycares.  The story programs are offered in French and English and often feature puppets and songs as well as stories.

Chess Club: At the Atwater Branch of the library, the Chess Club gathers to play, practice, and learn together, under the guidance of an expert chess player. For ages 6-12Atwater Chess Club

Homework Help:
Depending on staff availability, we are happy to assist young students as best we can with problems and questions with their homework.

Reference Service:
Branch librarians are great resources when it comes to helping young patrons find the information they need. Using encyclopedias and other reference books, online encyclopedias, books and other resources, librarians are there to help you, so just ask!

Internet Access:
Each branch has 1 computer available for Internet use. A permission slip, provided by the library, is needed to use the Internet.  Parents of children under 14 must sign the permission slip in the library.

Author Visits:
The library invites many different authors and illustrators to visit and present to children, including school groups.  Linda Holeman, Ian Wallace, Martin Springett, and Barbara Reid are just a few of the authors that have visited us recently.
